Propaganda: “Vitamin Pills Don’t Help” (cancer)

Here is the original article as I saw it in my local newspaper:

Vitamin Pills Don’t Help

They don’t curb cancer, heart risk

The largest study ever of mult-vitamin use in older women found they did nothing to prevent common cancers or heart disease.

The eight-year study in 161,808 postmenopausal women echoes recent disappointing vitamin studies in men.

Millions of Americans spend billions of dollars on vitamins to boost their health. Research has focused on cancer and heart disease in particular becaue of evidence that diets full of vitamin-rich foods may protect against those illnesses. But that evidence doesn’t necessarily mean pills are a good substitute.

The study’s lead author, researcher Marian Neuhouser of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, advised: “Get nutrients from food. Whole foods are better than dietary supplements.”

The study appears in yesterday’s Archives of Internal Medicine.

This is the article as it appears in most hard print periodicals. This is not the complete article. BUT, because hard print periodical publishers realise that their average readership has an attention span of only a few seconds per article, they probably figured that they would only provide the “essentials” – namely the headlines.

In essence, this is most likely propaganda by the big pharma against essential nutrients. In fact, this article is experiencing a big national wave across local newspapers and the web with several different incarnations.

Here’s the rest of the article excerted from CBS News:

Co-author Dr. JoAnn Manson said despite the disappointing results, the research doesn’t mean multivitamins are useless.

For one thing, the data are observational, not the most rigorous kind of scientific research. And also, it’s not clear if taking vitamins might help prevent cancers that take many years to develop, said Manson, chief of preventive medicine at Harvard’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

She said multivitamins still may be useful “as a form of insurance” for people with poor eating habits.

The study involved an analysis of data on women in their 50s and up who participated in long-running government studies on postmenopausal women. Almost 42 percent of the women said they used multivitamins regularly.

After about eight years, roughly equal numbers of vitamin users and nonusers developed common cancers, heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems. Overall, there were 9,619 cases of cancer, including cancers of the breast, lung, ovary, colon and stomach; and 8,751 cardiovascular ailments including heart attacks and strokes. In addition, 9,865 women died, also at similar rates in multivitamin users and nonusers.

Get nutrients from food. Whole foods are better than dietary supplements.

Alice Lichtenstein, a Tufts University nutrition professor who was not involved in the research, said the study is important because it involved so many women.

“All the evidence keeps pointing in the same direction,” Lichtenstein said.

Eric Jacobs, an American Cancer Society epidemiologist, said while his group doesn’t advise vitamins to prevent cancer, it does recommend maintaining a healthy weight and eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily while limiting red meat. Similar habits are also thought to help reduce heart disease risks.

As you see there was a different title and subheading here. When you look for this article under “Marian Neuhouser of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center,” you’re going to find a number of different incarnations of the same information. It’s like the publishers want to drill the same information into the public mind in as many ways as possible.

Here’s one more example from PhysOrg where I made a comment. PhysOrg offered the most scientific incarnation, which I appreciate, but it still has the same failings as all the others:

  • What kind of multivitamins were that 42% taking? For what purpose? How often?
  • What kind of lifestyle including diet do those women have? Were they active? Docile?
  • What are their family health histories? Their predispositions to disease?
  • Are any of their working/living conditions carcinogenic in nature?
  • Most important, what current drug prescriptions/medical therapies were they concurrently undergoing?

The reason I push essential nutrients for people who take regular prescription drugs is that drugs deplete essential nutrients in the body.

For example, statins deplete Coenzyme Q10, especially in elderly people who tend to experience CoQ10 depletions.

Pain killers destroy B vitamin, folic acid.

Vitamins are building blocks for the body. True: Whole foods are better than synthetic vitamins, but how many of us are educated about whole foods? And what is a “whole food” according to Marian Neuhouser?

I try to educate people on what a whole food is and how to grow your own at Mineralized Organic Superfoods. Here’s my question: Is Marian telling people that whole foods are better under the assumption that most people know what “whole foods” are?

Let’s ask our selves these important questions. How much of the general public is well educated in:

  • Leading a healthy lifestyle?
  • How to recognise and buy whole foods?
  • Knowing which vitamins to use?
  • Knowing what constitutes a health hazard?

Considering the unfortunate state of the greedy mainstream food industry, it’s very difficult for people to get their hands on whole foods. The mainstream food industry is NOT producing whole foods. The organic farmers who choose not to work with genetically modified organisms are slowly but surely getting squeezed off their farms or are forced to work with GMOs because of frivolous GMO lawsuits by Monsanto.

It’s simply too difficult for most people to get their hands on whole foods, unless they grow their own. This is the reason we take vitamins today, to make up for the depletion of vitamins and minerals in today’s food supply.

The truth is vitamins were discovered as being vital to the bodie’s functions and immune system. Here’s an excerpt from How Vitamins were Discovered:

..By the early 1900’s several teams of scientists were “hot on the trail” of the mysterious anti–scurvy substance. In 1931, a concentrate was made from lemon juice that was 20,000 times as potent as the original juice! Now came an intensive effort to discern the exact nature of this vital compound. Once its molecular “chain” or structure was determined, it could be synthesized and mass–produced. And so it happened that by 1935 vitamin C ( also properly named ascorbic acid ) became the first “pure” vitamin made available to the public through large–scale production…

You will see many studies at this page, real scientific studies that discuss the importance of our most common essential nutrients and the way they were derived.

When I see something like this “Vitamin Pills Don’t Help” propaganda, it’s like they’re trying to reverse the laws of nature. I find this mainstream scientific cretinism very disturbing and distressing.

I can guarantee you that the proliferation of “Vitamin Pills Don’t Help” is nothing but propaganda because it takes advantage of people’s short attention spans, it does not seek to educate, but proliferate rumors, and it only furthers the agenda of big pharma for the push of Codex Alimentarius which would have the debilitating effect of relegating vitamins to pitiful doctor’s prescriptions if not pitifully small dosages over the counter.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center should only be about cancer research – not creating rumors about essential nutrients. Guess what? There are cures for cancer. Vitamins are a good prophylaxis, but cancer is highly individual. There has never been a guarantee that vitamins prevent cancer.

Maybe some news program or doctor convinced you that someday there will be a drug oriented panacea for cancer. Impossible; it’s a mystical pipe dream. Unless we are talking about a public source of carcinogens that affect the living body the same way, cancer is highly individual. This means we have to destroy the cancer according to the kind of cancer the person is experiencing.

The Real Cure to Cancer

One doctor discovered a way to kill cancer cells non-invasively, decades ago. His name was Dr. Royal Raymond Rife. He worked with a number of doctors who helped him to verify his research.

Dr. Rife first used monochromatic light in something he called an ultramicroscope. This amazing microscope, which took all day to calibrate, could magnify a living object 60,000X. This is in direct opposition to electron microscopes which requires the sample to be dead to work.

It turns out that monochromatic light not only revealed living cultures at 60,000X that could not be seen under conventional microscopes, monochromatic light was also capable of killing these same cultures.

From monochromatic light, Dr. Rife proceeded to build a plasma wave device that could emit single, square wave frequencies in the mega-hertz region. It turns out that the plasma wave device had the same effect on his culture samples as the monochromatic sources of light. Fancy that.

This means that Dr. Rife discovered a non invasive form of energy that could be used to kill all kinds of bacteria including cancer cells.

Cocktail of five vitamins may give cancer patients an extra two years

Cancer patients with terminal disease who take a daily cocktail of vitamins could extend their lives by two years or even longer, claim researchers.

Three out of four in a pilot study survived an average of five months longer than the expected one year, and some were still alive three years after treatment started…

Dr Bob Lister, co-author of the study by British and Danish researchers, said the results were similar to the survival gains from new drugs and in some cases better.

But the important difference was there were no side effects reported by patients taking vitamins, he said.

Dr Lister, chairman of the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition at London Metropolitan University, said: ‘We believe these results are meaningful and justify trying to get backing for a proper clinical trial.

‘People with cancer are constantly asking what can we do, not necessarily to beat the cancer but to have a better quality of life whatever the length of survival.

‘Most importantly, taking these supplements is extremely safe, and there were no adverse reactions among the patients…’

During the nine-year period, the patients were treated with coenzyme Q10 – a vitamin-like compound-essential for producing energy made naturally in the body – and six other antioxidants including vitamins A, C and E, selenium, folic acid, and beta carotene (which was not given to lung cancer patients for safety reasons)…

‘Until we know for sure, our advice is to try to get the vitamins you need through a balanced and varied diet rather than through vitamin supplements.’

Unfortunately, most people are not educated on what “balanced and varied” means. Only holistic doctors and nutritionists are interested in educating people about proper diets. For the most part, this means YOU have to educate yourself. Fortunately, the altruistic doctors put their research on the web for our convenience.
